Sandy Turnbull (UK)

Music has always figured largely in the life of Sandy Turnbull. Ever since he could remember, he has always surrounded himself with music ….from taping shows on the radio to buying records and ultimately progressing to his own pair of decks. Suffice to say DJ'ing is a very natural thing to him.

His talent was noticed from a very early stage. The iconic Dave Vincent who runs Sankey Soaps and the legendary Tribal Sessions gave him one of his first residencies at the club along with his very own

night, a midweek student night.

Learning and adapting very quickly he progressed onward to holding many long term residencies and some sweet guest spots at places like Moneypenny's in the North of England.

But it was when he was discovered, recruited and nurtured as a resident for the now seminal Pin-Up Club nights that doors started to open for Sandy. Through this night and the related events that have come from it, he has had he chance to play amongst the who's who of house music including Eric Morillo, Roger Sanchez, Erol Alkan, Sasha, Cuban Brothers and James Zabiela. His skills as a networker was also
recognised and he was absorbed into Gatecrasher to promote and network all the clubs in the Gatecrasher empire.

With a keen ear for music, Sandy's forays into production has also made an impact. Tracks he has produced have gone into record boxes of people as varied as David Dunne (Hed Kandi), Armand Van Helden, and Galaxy radio’s Riley & Durrant.

His DJ sets are an event in itself. Sandy has received acclaim for being able to play to the widest of audiences.
Whether it is the Gatecrasher main or the back room, a headline set at Pin-Up's legendary nights, Zouk (kuala Lumpur) as well as the festival stages (Summer Sound System and Tribal Gathering Weekender)
this DJ has rocked it with his infectious blend of dance music. Sandy is a versatile DJ that has the ability to play anything from soulful to electronic house, indie remixes, cheeky bootlegs, rock classics to block party anthems and most importantly knows how to join the dots between each genre without ever losing the dance floor. Add to this regular appearances on radio shows Nu Breed and Nu Cool (Hed Kandi).

"A rare find indeed and a credit to any club that books him."
