PAPADRAM Roots Drums Band is a music formation which plays on drums. It was founded in 1991 in Wolimierz by Wiktor “Witek” Golc and it was supposed to be a continuation of his long music activity.
The name PAPADRAM is an idea of Wiktor and it occurs alternatively together with the name “Mistyczny Wehikuł” (“The Mystic Vehicle”) to Roots Drums Band name. “The Mystic Vehicle” refers to the trans that is caused by the drums. Drums accompanied humans since their beginning and probably will still accompany us for a long time.
PAPADRAM plays its own rhythmic compositions. Now, mostly inspired by the musical culture of West Africa, they invite you for an African show that contains of music and dance.

About the drums
The drums used by PAPADRAM are mostly handmade by Wiktor Golc. They are divided into two categories. Monolithic drums: bass drums on three legs, Fat Berta of diameter over 1 meter, dun duns, sabers, kpanlogos, atumpans, djembes, bucars, congas, talking drums and there are the slotted drums: quikas, kalimbs, balafons, bariambaos, shekers, bells and others.
Wiktor Golc is making drums since 1982. At the beginning he used plastic buckets and clay plant pots to create a drum. Today, the artist is well know almost all around the world as a producer of wooden instruments, specifically the djembe drum. The drum is very popular in Poland thanks to Wiktor.
“I invite you to my workshop in Wrocław, where you can see many interesting drums and buy some of them. The place is always full of drums and sometimes there is not enough place for them.” – smiles Wiktor.
